About this item

"...I've read alot of books with ghostly elements. Yet I find that this book used in such away that leaves all other books on ghosts in the dust. I thought the author did an excellent job of creating this lore. The lore provides is unique and well thought out. I will definitely be looking for this author's work in the future." "...This book truly has it all: it's oozing with "otherworldly" suspense set in mysterious Edinburgh and has one of the most romantic (and steamiest!) love stories I've read!" "...The hero was extremely sexy . . . a dangerous Scot in a kilt. What's not to love? Good use of the paranormal elements and secondary characters. I will be looking for the second book in the series." How far would you go to save the one you love? A modern-day ghost story with a twist. Curses, creatures and ghosts, oh my! "..takes the reader on a fantastic journey to another time and place." "...characters are divine - they almost created holograms of themselves, and walked off the page before me. This is a must read." If you enjoy persnickety gods, supernatural creatures and ghosts who have physical bodies, then Lost in Shadow is for you. A relaxing vacation to Scotland turns deadly when a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger leads to murder. Shocked when she witnesses a man commit murder before vanishing in front of her eyes, Emily learns she possesses an extraordinary ability allowing her to interact with the unseen. Unwittingly drawn into shadow when she intervenes to help, a terrible curse is unleashed. Now with only a week to break the curse, time is running out. Locked in a deadly fight with forces that will stop at nothing to destroy her before she succeeds, Emily must find the key. Intensely romantic and thrilling, Lost in Shadow portrays the struggle between redemption, retribution and the desire to find a love that transcends time. Excerpt: Slowly coming to, she winced in pain, her entire body ached. Could barely breathe. Her nose must be broken. Intense pain radiated down her side. At least the gag had fallen out so she could take shallow breaths through her mouth. It was pitch black, so cold. Her arms felt like they were being pulled out of their sockets and something was biting into her wrists. Why couldn’t she move? Terror consumed her, claustrophobia kicked in, spots appearing in front of her eyes as it dawned on her—she’d been entombed in the wall. Uncontrollably shaking, sobs wracked her body, tears blurring her vision. A faint blue light filled the space, she heard a whisper—the young girl was back. “Milady, what have they done to you? Hold on. I found Lord Colin, he’s coming. Because of both of you, the light is back, pulling me towards it—I couldn’t pass on to the next realm without telling you first.” With that, the ghost faded. “Thank you for helping me. I’m happy for you.” In a detached, numb state, Emily wondered if Colin didn’t make it in time would she die of fright or from heart failure or starvation and lack of water? They were all terrible—she didn’t want to die, had she been given a second chance only to have it end this way? She hadn’t saved Colin, still had to help him, he could be redeemed, he was a good man. Pressing against the stone with her knees, it wouldn’t give. There was no way out. About the Author Cynthia Luhrs is the author of the Shadow Walkers novels.
